A very #LUSHChristmas | Nottingham

Dino's Beauty Diary - Lush Nottingham Bloggers Event -

A couple of weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to get a lovely email from Urika Chiu, who works in PR at Lush, inviting me to their Christmas launch at the Nottingham store. I was so excited to be invited to such a fantastic event, as my love (and lets face it, obsession) with Lush has been growing huge amounts recently.

So when Friday 3rd October rolled around, I arranged to meet some fellow bloggers beforehand for some drinks (even managing to get a cheeky extra pitcher for free, #sneaky). As 6.30 rolled around, we managed to head on over to Lush and were let inside by the fantastic and friendly team at Lush Nottingham.

Warning: This post is going to be photo heavy!

As well as their Christmas range, Lush have also brought out some special items for Halloween and Bonfire Night! One of my favourites has to be the 'Lord of Misrule' bath bomb, which has a gorgeous scent thanks to the patchouli and black pepper oil combo. Apparently it's inspired by the ruler of the pagan 'Feast of Fools'; it has a wine coloured centre, and even has popping candy inside which starts to crackle as the bomb starts to dissolve!

Next up is the 'Sparkly Pumpkin', which looks amazing! Although unfortunately, I wasn't too keen on this when I first smelt it (I think it was the cinnamon - I'm not too keen on it!). Thankfully though one of the assistants did a demo of it, and afterwards it smelt a lot better! I also love the tagline - 'Transform bath time into a ball'.

Don't you think the 'Wizard' bubble bar looks amazing? It's so cute! So cute in fact that if I had it, I don't think I could bring myself to crumble it into the bath, even if it does make the water turn a beautiful shade of purple and all bubbly!

Both the 'Northern Lights' bath bomb and the 'Sparkler' are similar in shape, but also completely different! The 'Northern Lights' slowly dissolves into a lovely display of blue and green, giving off a relaxing scent of ylang-ylang and jasmine. However for me, I much prefer the 'Sparkler' bath bomb; it actually spins around in the water, giving off the impression of a catherine wheel! It's rose jam scented and like the 'Lord of Misrule' has popping candy in it to give it that little bit extra!

Isn't the 'Fairy Ring' soap amazing in its full size? Although for this beauty it would set you back over £100 - I guess for now I'll just be sticking to the smaller sizes of this! Still, a girl can dream.

For me, bath bombs are my number one lust. I seriously can't get enough! There's such a big selection at Lush for Christmas, including: 'Dashing Santa', 'Butterbear', 'So White', 'Luxury Lush Pud', 'Father Christmas' and 'Shoot For The Stars' to name just a few!

Personally, my favourites were either the 'Luxury Lush Pud' or 'Shoot For The Stars'. The Lush Pud looks amazing when it's dissolved in water, and also gives off an amazing combination of lavender and ylang-ylang. 'Shoot For The Stars' however fizzes to give the illusion of the colours of the night sky and leaving a trail of silver, whilst also smelling like the 'Honey I Washed The Kids' soap.

'Snow Angel' Bath Melt.
Bath Melts are actually something I've never used before, but I'm so eager to start! In fact, I'm even dropping hints to the boyfriend right now...I'm not sure he's getting it though sadly.

My favourite out of all the bath melts has to be the 'Star Light, Star Bright' because it looks absolutely stunning. What amazes me more about this is once its crumbled into the bath, it dissolves into a stunning turquoise-y colour with a silver glimmer. Unlike bath bombs it contains moisturising shea butter to help keep the skin soft and smooth.

The 'Melting Snowman' looks so so cute that I don't think I could ever justify crumbling it into tiny pieces. Apparently it's Christmas spice scented, but unfortunately I didn't smell it when I was there so I have no idea whether I'd like it or not!

I think the next one I'd be likely to get would be the 'Snow Angel', as it dissolves into white foam with a golden glitter glow. It also contains cocoa butter which I absolutely love, and smells faintly of marzipan!

Another thing I've never had the pleasure of using is a bubble bar. At first I'll admit I wasn't convinced they'd be as productive as bubble bath liquids, but boy was I in for a shock. I mean, just check out that demo photo of how many bubbles there are! Sold! Get me a 'Magic Wand' bubble bar now!

The other bubble bars which are available are also fantastic, such as; 'The Christmas Hedgehog', 'The Christmas Penguin', 'Holly Golightly' and 'Drummers Drumming'. There are other bars available, but these were my personal favourite and the only ones I really got a chance to look at!

Don't you think the hedgehog bubble bar is so cute? I'm pretty sure it had a few of us bloggers awwing at it's adorableness!

Dino's Beauty Diary - Lush Nottingham Bloggers Event - yog nog soap
'Yog Nog' Hand and Body Soap.
I've never been one for using soaps in the shower, I'm more of a shower gel kind of person. But after using some of the soaps from Lush recently, I'm a complete convert. They smell divine. And the Christmas soaps are no exception!

If I had to choose, I think I'd be stuck between the 'Baked Alaska' and the 'Yog Nog'. The design of the Baked Alaska is amazing, and apparently it's designed to be like a snowball. As a full ball it looks plain on the outside, but when it's cut it reveals bright colours inside. It smells fantastic like lemon and hints of grapefruit, making it a gorgeous refreshing scent. The Yog Nog however is based around the Christmas egg nog, and has a lovely fudge-y feel and aroma. The patterns cut into it are cute too and really scream Christmas festivity.

However both the 'Snowcake' and 'Reindeer Rock' are cute too. Reindeer Rock has cute little Reindeers cut into it (unsuprisingly!) and smells a lot like berries and really fruity, and Snowcake has an uplifting marzipan scent.

And of course there had to be a bit of an accident at the event! The lovely Sian from Sian Marie Beauty ended up accidentally spilling some of the 'Marilyn' hair treatment over her shoes and the floor when she didn't realise how liquidy it was! Thankfully I was just out of the splash zone but we couldn't stop laughing about it for a while after. It's lovely to meet other bloggers who live locally to me - everyone was so lovely and I'm so thankful to Lush for the opportunity to come along.

As we'd entered the store the staff inside happily gave us a little piece of paper entitled 'Christmas Wish List', and informed us that after viewing the range we could jot down our 3 most lusted after items and they'd wrap them up for us to take home as a little gift! It was such an unexpected gesture and ever so nice of them. I love that they let each of us choose our own personal favourites - it made it really unique and personal.

I ended up going for the 'Snow Fairy' shower gel (it smells like the bubblegum lip scrub which I purchased a while back - amazing!), the 'Sparkler' bath bomb and the 'Baked Alaska' soap. I have to stress here how hard it was to choose 3 items when you want so many! A lot of us were writing something down, changing our mind then scribbling it out. A heck of a lot! We were also informed that the tills were open for purchases if we so wished too...

Purchase-wise I went for the 'Yuzu and Cocoa' bubbleroon as it has a hint of a chocolate undertone, so I was immediately sold. And of course the 'Yog Nog' soap!

I just want to say a massive thank you to the team at Lush Nottingham, and to the PR team for the invite. I feel so privileged to have taken part in such a fantastic event, and can't wait to go back next payday! Watch out for me Lush Nottingham! ;)

How about you, have you got anything from the Halloween or Christmas range? Let me know in the comments below!

And a huge congratulations to you for managing to survive such a picture heavy post!
