I have something exciting to share with you today, and I'm literally buzzing with excitement just writing this post. Every blogger by now is familiar with monthly subscription boxes - be it Birchbox, Glossybox, Look Fantastic... you get the point. So I was super excited to find something a bit different - 'The Melt Crowd' by Flamingo Candles.
I have a slight obsession with candles. For ages I've seen Flamingo Candles dotted around different blogs and I've wanted to try them myself, but I had no idea where to start. Mango and Dragonfruit? Blackcurrant and Jam High Tea? Pomegranate and White Fig? So many flavours and no clue.
So when I saw they were starting a monthly box of wax melts, I couldn't resist. At only £10 a month, including postage, it's a way to sample some of the fragrances available, and even try items exclusive to the Melt Crowd! Who could resist that, seriously?!
'Ginger and Lime' Scent Melt
I've officially spent ages searching for this one on the Flamingo Candles website, and can't find any trace of it. Anyway, for me, the ginger in this melt is really quite faint. The lime is delicious and sweet, and combined with the faint smell of ginger, gives off quite a warm scent.
'Circus: Doughnuts' Scent Melt (Melt Crowd Preview)
This melt is an exclusive melt crowd preview, as Flamingo Candles are releasing a new collection of candles this month under the 'Circus' theme. It smells exactly how you'd imagine it to - think those little trailers where they'd cook up the doughnuts hot and fresh for you. Mmmm, yummy.
'Dahlia' Scent Melt (Melt Crowd Exclusive)
This is a melt crowd exclusive, so only subscribers get to enjoy this deliciously floral scent. As well as being floral, this melt has a smell to it that seems familiar to me, but I can't quite place it. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know in the comments below!
'Kir Royale: Cocktail' Scent Melt
Sweet and spritzy, Kir Royale is a fruity creme de cassis fragrance, lavished with notes of sparkling wine.
On first sniff, this melt reminded me of cocktails - and then I saw the name. Duh. It has a nice comforting scent and is quite warm and welcoming (well, to me anyway).
'Strawberries and Champagne' Scent Melt
Rich and sweet, Strawberries 'n' Champagne is a blend of fruity strawberry juice with green top notes and a sweet, malty, champagne base.
This one is my favourite melt of the bunch. Okay, I may be slightly biased here as I love both strawberries and champagne (who doesn't?!), but believe me when I say it smells good enough to eat. For me, it's actually mouthwatering and I can't wait to burn this baby.
'Green Apples' Scent Melt
Fresh and zesty, 'green apples' is the ultimate feel-good scent. Inspired by the Granny Smith apple, it blends leafy green accords with citrus notes of lemon, mandarin, apple and melon. A fruity delight!
You can definitely smell the Granny Smith apple with this one. It's really fruity and you can almost smell the undercurrent of lemon. Definitely an uplifting, fruity scent.
'Pomegranate Cider' Scent Melt
Energetic and fresh, 'Pomegranate Cider' is a fruity, pomegranate fragrance with further fruity hints of raspberries, juicy strawberries, ripe peach and nuances of vanilla.
Okay, I know I said the Strawberries and Champagne was my favourite, but now I'm torn between that one and this beauty. It's a very summery and sweet fragrance, and has a soft undertone of vanilla that isn't too overpowering.
'Fresh Cotton' Scent Melt (Melt Crowd Exclusive)
This one makes me think of fluffy cotton towels and big comfy dressing gowns. It's such a homey scent and makes me feel so relaxed and cosy. I'm gutted this is only an exclusive for the subscription box though as I'd have loved this in a candle form.
Overall I'm completely head over heels in love with this recurring subscription! With 8 melts for only £10 - including postage - it's somewhat of a bargain. Afterall, the melts are individually priced at £2 each, so it's great value for money! Plus, the first month comes with a free burner, to ensure you're fully equipped to try out all the melts.
The boxes are sent out around the 1st of each month, and for the first box you'll need to ensure someone is in as it's not big enough to fit through the letterbox. As I found out when I got back to my apartment to see it lying on the floor outside my door. Not impressed Royal Mail! Thankfully future boxes are big enough to fit through the letterbox.
Are you already signed up to The Melt Crowd? Or have you tried a Flamingo Candle before? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below! :)
