I have an addiction to lipsticks. It's true, and you can blame my good friend Hannah (of the blog Hanner King) for that one! But a lesser known fact about me, at least where my blog is concerned, is that I love/am obsessed with Star Wars. I grew up watching the original trilogy, and when the prequel trilogy came out, my Dad took me to see them all on the big screen.
So, with a love for Star Wars, when I saw the 'Far Away' collection by Freedom Makeup, I couldn't resist. And at £4 for the set of 5, who can complain?!
As the sister brand of Makeup Revolution, Freedom Makeup is sure to please MUR fans; their prices are the same as MUR in that they're relatively cheap, and MURs passion for great, catchy product names has carried over. At £1 each or all 5 for £4, and with great names relating to Star Wars, the 'Far Away' collection is sure to be a collection that stands out from others.
Each lipstick feels creamy and moisturising on the lips, and none of them felt too drying which is what I fear in lipsticks. Dry, flaky lips is not a good look! Plus the packaging on MUR and Freedom Lipsticks is fantastic; I love how the bottom of each lipstick shows what colour is inside - it's perfect for my clear lipstick holder so I can see which colour I'm picking!
Storm-Trooper: Yes, this is a white lipstick, and I couldn't quite believe it either! Now that I think about it, I can't say that I've ever seen a white lipstick before. With one coat the lipstick was quite faint, and I can't see myself ever using this as a lipstick on it's own because it doesn't go on well enough for me. However that's not to say that it doesn't have its uses; it could be used to create ombré lips, or to lighten a dark lipstick.
Sky-Walker: I'm head over heels for this shade! It's a gorgeous metallic silver, and has great pigmentation. This one looks stunning when applied to the lips, even though it's not a shade that would necessarily be worn day to day. I love this shade and this one has to be my favourite in the collection.
Space Luxe: This is a gorgeous yellow-gold shimmery lipstick, which would take a few coats to give it more of an even coverage. However this shade can be more flexible; you can wear it as a standalone shade by building it up, or you can put a small amount over the top of another lipstick to give it a nice golden shimmer.
Far Away: I love purples, don't you? 'Far Away' is a purple lipstick with quite a strong blue undertone. Like a couple of the others one coat isn't enough as it can look quite patchy, but the colour can easily be built up to really make your lips stand out.
The Sith: Much like the white lipstick, I can't say I've seen a black lipstick either (except for the halloween makeup sets where you'd get a tiny black bullet for witches makeup or something). I'd say this has a matte kind of look to it, with a subtle shimmer running through.
Overall, for £4 for all 5 of the lipsticks, I really can't complain. I feel like the white lipstick could have been more pigmented so it would go on smoother, but apart from that I have no other problems with the set. It also amazes me that some of these lipsticks can be used to switch up some other lipsticks, like the 'Storm-Trooper' lipstick can be used with other lipsticks to create effortless ombré looks! Plus, if crazy coloured lipsticks are your thing, then I can't recommend these more!
