Christmas is almost here, and everyone is getting into the festive spirit. Shops all along hight streets are offering amazing deals and offers, and some even have limited edition products exclusive for Christmas. One of my favourites in Boots, No7, has brought out a number of festive inspired products this year; ranging from nail polish and foundations, to eyeshadows and lipsticks.
Every time I walk in a Boots store there's something that always draws me to their beauty counter, I swear it's like a gravitational pull. This time, the things that immediately drew my eye were these gorgeous Christmas edition products. I mean, just look at the gorgeous red packaging on the lipstick, and how bright those nail polishes are! And the eyeshadow was just too cute to ignore.
Who doesn't love a good festive, seasonal product?
I'm a sucker for a good nail polish, even more so in a bright or glittery colour. Both colours are part of the relatively new 'Gel Look' range, designed to give the same flawless look and feel as a in-salon manicure. I haven't worn a deep red nail in forever, and I think I'll definitely be wearing this over Christmas. Named 'Red Velvet', the nail polish glides on like a dream with the perfect size brush to cover the nail in two swipes. Normally I give my nails two coats of colour just to make sure the colour is even, but red velvet works well enough to leave at just one coat.
The second nail polish, 'Treasure', is a gorgeous golden colour with a slight shimmer to it. The combination of the two colours actually reminds me of a Christmas tree, with beautiful gold and red tinsel hanging from it. Treasure doesn't build up as well as red velvet, so I had to give it a couple of coats to make it stand out a little more. I do love how well it catches the light and shines though, it is really a gorgeous colour.
Red lipstick seems to be quite an obsession of mine, and to be fair I think it's one of my favourite colours I love to wear. The 'Moisture Drench' lipstick in the gorgeous shade 'Pillarbox' is such a bright, bold red that I can definitely see me wearing on Christmas day. It just seems so jolly and uplifting don't you think? I didn't realise until I swatched it that it's more of an orange-y red colour, which is normally something I wouldn't really go for. However there's something about Pillarbox that just works well with my skin tone, and I really like that.
With the eyeshadow, I just couldn't resist when I saw it. I mean, just look how gorgeous that shimmer is! I don't think all the heart-eyed emojis in the world could express how much I love this shade. It's a cream based eyeshadow which I would normally avoid as I don't really like the texture, and I'm normally worried about it creasing and messing up once I've applied it. However I decided to give this a go anyway because the colour was enough to sway me - and I was pleasantly surprised.
The eyeshadow doesn't go on thick, so it's a pleasant shade that can be built up depending on how intense you want it to look. It's a light, pale almost brown/coppery shade, with a small shimmer to it that isn't too intense. Perfect for the party season, it gives eyes a subtle glimmer to stand out a bit more, without being too over the top. I think I may have just found my new favourite eyeshadow!
No7 have done themselves proud with this little festive collection - as well as the items I've purchased, they also have items ranging from highlighters to foundations and primers.
