Winter is without a doubt my favourite season. It may be weird, but I 100% prefer the cold over heat, and one of the only things I don't like is how quick it gets dark. I even love the snow! One thing I hate though is how the cold weather affects my skin - suffering with bad skin anyway, the cold can make it so much worse.
So when the temperature starts to dip, I have to change a few things and add some new items in to my skincare routine. As I suffer with bad skin anyway, I have to use quite a few bits and bobs to keep it looking healthy.
Ever since I used to go shopping with my mum I've loved No7. They're a fantastic and affordable brand and one of the things I love most about them is their skincare range. They have a wide variety of lines to cover pretty much any skin type, and the one I use most has to be the 'Dry/Very Dry' range.
One of the items I use every day is the No7 'Beautiful Skin' Day Cream for Dry/Very Dry Skin. I love the little pots they come in as they look so fantastic and high end, you would think they cost more than they actually do. The cream is so rich and nourishing, it leaves my skin feeling nice and soft, and gets rid of any dry flaky skin which sometimes can show through my makeup. The 'Instant Illusions' Rapid Radiance Balm is another favourite of mine, although I don't use this every day. Some days my skin can really look quite dull, and this balm gives it that little added boost it needs. I only apply this sparingly as quite a little can stretch pretty far, and it gives my skin that nice, dewy glow. Much better than tired looking skin!
One thing I will happily buy again and again from No7 is the No7 'Beautiful Skin' Hydration Mask for Dry/Very Dry Skin. It's such a miracle product that I can't big it up enough. This has helped my skin so much for the better - using this every other day, I leave it on for about 10 minutes or so for a really intensive treatment. Ah, who can forget Lush? This is one of the first items I think I ever brought from Lush, and I've never stopped using it since. The 'Breath of Fresh Air' Toner Water is perfect to sling in my work bag for use whilst I'm out and about. I don't use it too often, but when I do it's just exactly what I need to give my skin and myself a much needed boost.
Benefit's 'It's Potent!' Eye Cream is one of my favourite products ever, and was actually one of the first products I ever brought from the brand. Since that day, I can honestly see myself using this years into the future. I love how cooling it is on the eyes, and only a tiny amount is actually needed. Plus it seems to help with getting rid of my bags!
After a long day at work, all I feel like doing when I get home is curling up under the quilt and getting nice and snug. So sometimes I tend to neglect my nightly skincare routine, which is probably a big sin as a beauty blogger! However recently, I have been keeping up with my night time routine, and I've noticed some pretty awesome results.
I have to hand it to Merumaya here - their products are fantastic, either alone or as a pretty powerful combination. I've used their 'Overnight Recharge' Night Cream* for months now on and off, and it's seriously noticeable when I have. Suffering with dry skin, this baby works wonders to help give my skin a much needed boost overnight, leaving me with soft and silky skin in the morning. On the odd occasion that I have a seriously, seriously bad bout of dry skin I tend to spread this on a bit thicker, and in the morning it's practically a thing of the past.
One thing I have come to love over the past few months is beauty oils. For some reason, they never used to appeal to me - I just automatically thought that it would make my skin greasy, or my hair, or anywhere else I use it. However, I'm happy to announce that Merumaya have managed to completely win me over in regards to oils! Their 'Everything Everywhere' Beauty Oil* has seriously upped my skincare regime, and I can't believe how long I went on without a beauty oil before.
One of the best things about Merumaya's oil is how little you need - just one or two drops from the dropper mixed in with my night cream works wonders, and it all stretches a long way too. It has that yummy smell about it like the cream does, and I love soft and supple it makes my skin feel.
Winter can be harsh on the skin, especially for my fellow dry skin sufferers! It's so important to keep on top of your skincare routine, as you'll soon notice how the cooler weather affects the skin if you neglect it. And nobody wants that, do they?
