If there's one thing I love about seasons changing, it has to be mixing up my everyday routine. Be it eyeshadows and blushers or nails and lipsticks - it just feels fab to change things up occasionally. One of my favourite things about spring is the gorgeous colours that come with it, such as pastels and lighter shades.
Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE lover of darker coloured nail - my favourite colours as of recently were a gorgeous, deep plum and a bold dark blue. However, I have been playing around with spring themed colours recently, and I have to say I am beginning to get hooked. Every lighter polish I've worn for the past couple of weeks has been getting compliments from people at work too. Plus, I've just switched up to a stunning baby blue which I think I have pretty much fallen head over heels in love with.
Now I have to put this out there - I have a huge box pretty much filled to the brim with nail polishes, so narrowing my favourites down was seriously difficult. I think it's safe to say that I have a problem when it comes to painting my nails, but hey, a girl can never have too many polishes. Right?!
Rimmel London (Misty Jade) - A beautiful bright green, 'Misty Jade' has been on my list of top nail colours for a while now. Aptly named, I have to say this nail polish is spot on in being called 'Jade'. It took a couple of coats for me to get an even coverage, as it did seem to struggle with just the one, but once it had all dried it did look seriously stunning.
Maybelline New York (Lilac Charm) - Ever since I was young I've loved darker purples and lilac shades. This polish actually reminds me of my old bedroom when it was painted a gorgeous shade of deep lilac - I absolutely love it. Definitely on of the best nail colours to have at hand throughout spring!
Barry M (Matt White) - You can never go wrong with a good white nail polish can you! I've loved Barry M for ages now - there's just something about their nail polishes that draws me in. Anyway, to me, white nails always look classy and effortless, and no matter what season I think white can always be pulled off.
Models Own Scented (Peach Melba) - For ages, I never knew there was even such a thing as scented nail polishes. That is, until I headed into town one day and saw the Models Own versions in one of my local stores. A gorgeous, bright orange colour, 'Peach Melba' is unlike any of my other nail polishes. In fact, I could probably go as far as saying it is the only orange I own. It smells fantastic too, and almost good enough to eat - although I wouldn't recommend it!
Rimmel London (Breakfast In Bed) - This has to be one of my favourite colours for Spring, as it's a gorgeous mint colour with a slight hint of blue. It also has a small shimmer to it, which to me makes it a bit of a stand out from the others. For me, it took about 3 coats in all (plus a base coat and a top coat too) to try and get it all even, as there were odd bits that hadn't covered properly. Once built up though, this colour is definitely worth the extra bit of hassle as the payoff is gorgeous.
No7 Gel Look (Lemon Drop) - A gorgeous and vibrant yellow, I think 'Lemon Drop' is the perfect colour to sum up everything about spring in just one bottle. Similar to 'Peach Melba', this polish from No7 is the only yellow I think I have in my stash, or maybe only my second. I love this colour because it is so vibrant and stands out from any other colours, plus it's easy enough to apply with the brush in only a couple of sweeps.
Models Own Hyper Gel (Pink Veneer) - Who can resist a cute little baby pink colour? I know I definitely couldn't resist it! I love how simple but elegant 'Pink Veneer' looks once applied, and it easily gives any manicure a bit of a sophisticated edge. Plus, like the No7 polish, it is a gel look polish, which is perfect if you want all the benefits of a gel manicure without the hefty price tag or hassle.
NAILED London (Noodle Nude) - Back in December, I did a full review on the new NAILED London range, designed by Made In Chelsea star Rosie Fortescue (you can find the original post here). Since then, I've been pretty much obsessed with the range as I've never had a problem with them, and they have some absolutely stunning colours in their range. Anyway, 'Noodle Nude' is a perfectly pale nude colour that is easy enough to wear if you're struggling for ideas or just want something simple enough for everyday use whilst still looking pretty and sophisticated.
Rimmel London (Pillow Talk) - Like 'Breakfast In Bed', 'Pillow Talk' is similar in the fact that it has a gorgeous shimmer running through it. At first look of the two of them side by side, they do look pretty similar, which I had a problem with myself after I got confused as to which one I'd used when I was halfway through painting them! However 'Pillow Talk' does come first in my eyes - there's just something about the pale baby blue colour that draws me in. Like the others, it did take a couple of coats to give even coverage, but I tend to do at least two coats with all polishes anyway.
Rimmel London (Instyle Coral) - Slightly brighter than some of the other spring colours, this polish is perfect when you want to give your manicure a bit of an extra pop. In the pictures it does look to be more of a red colour for some reason, but in person it is actually a slightly brighter pinky toned coral. Again, it took a couple of coats minimum to get the coverage right without any streaky bits, but it's not too much of a hassle.
So there you have it - my ten favourite colours for Spring! As much as I love winter (I love any excuse to wrap up in my cozy scarf and hat), I am kind of glad that Spring is here now. Even though the time seems to have gone seriously fast! Do you have any different products you switch around each season? Do you have any favourite colours for Springtime? Or have you tried out any of these polishes and have some suggestions for me?
