I know I'm a little late with favourites this time around, but hey, better late than never right? I can't believe we're in the middle of June already though, it's crazy! Even if the weather isn't living up to it... Anyway, as usual, May passed in a complete blur. I actually did pretty well when it comes to shopping too - I don't think I actually brought any beauty products! It's baby steps, but maybe I'm on my way to being a recovering shopaholic...
Recently I've been trying to rotate through my products a bit more. Working for Boots is a slight struggle for someone who loves shopping as much as I do! Anyway, I've been digging out some newer products I haven't tried yet, as well as rediscovering some old favourites. May was definitely a good month for changing things up!
Among some of the products I've started using more often are some absolute gems when it comes to skincare. Thanks to a friend at work I've come across the Palmers skincare range - a brand I've previously heard of, but never really given much thought to trying. Coconut oil seems to be a very popular choice for people recently, whether it be for skincare, haircare and even cooking.
As part of their new 'Coconut Oil Formula' range, Palmer's have created a variety of products for skincare, ranging from soaps and body washes to hand creams and body oils. Going off a recommendation I went for the body oil, and let me tell you that it lives up to the hype. Body oils at the minute seem to be the next big thing, and this oil smells fantastic and is intensely nourishing for the skin. I'm addicted to using this stuff at the moment - it's intoxicating.
My second body product of the month comes from the lovely people over at Lush - a product specifically designed for those with tattoos. At £5.95 the bar is a pretty decent bargain considering how well it works. Smelling irresistible, I love slapping this on my tattoos a couple of times a day - it gives the skin a bit of a moisture boost, whilst being great for enhancing tattoos. As I don't have any colour tattoos I can't comment on how well it works for them, but for black tattoos it works a treat. The birds I have on my collarbone are dark enough on their own, but 'Elbow Grease' helps give it a bit of a boost and makes them stand out that slight bit more.
Benefit's best selling 'Erase Paste' has made its way back into my favourites recently thanks to it's ability to hide even the worst of spots. I'm not sure if it's down to stress or what, but recently my skin has broke out pretty badly. With this beauty in my makeup bag though I can at least take comfort in the fact that they are well concealed!
As well as applying my moisturiser in the morning, I love to add a bit of MAC 'Strobe Cream' to the mix. Depending on what look I'm going for I'll either apply this to a couple of areas to attract light in the right way, or mix it with my face cream to give an all over dewy glow. To say I only brought a little travel size bottle instead of the full product, I'm pretty impressed with how long this has lasted. Only a couple of drops are needed for a small bit of highlighting, or a small pea sized amount mixed with face cream for an all over glow.
And it wouldn't be a favourites round up without some kind of No7 product, right? The 'Instant Radiance' Highlighter has been out for a while now, and for pretty much as long as I can remember it has always been in my makeup bag. On the odd occasion where I want a strong highlight, I'll apply this on top of the cream for a bolder and more intense look. I do use this on a daily basis though for underneath my eyebrows - it gives a beautiful highlight and makes my brows bolder. I love it!
Ah, eyeshadow palettes. You can never have enough right?! Not too long ago I picked up Urban Decays 'Vice 3' palette when we were in Paris, and I've recently rediscovered my love for it. As well as containing some beautiful and bold shades such as bold pinks and vibrant blues, the palette also contains one of my favourite smoky gold combos - 'Last Sin' and 'Angel'.
'Last Sin' is a gorgeous and vibrant gold shimmer, whilst 'Angel' is more of a deeper taupe. When combined, the two make a pretty stunning look that is perfect for everyday wear. I love rocking these two shades ('Angel' all over and 'Last Sin' in the crease) with my Soap and Glory eyeliner for a simple effortless look. The pigmentation is fantastic too (as always with Urban Decay) and, combined with their best selling eyeshadow primer, stays put all day with no transfer.
May was such a hectic month, so I'm pretty surprised I actually managed to remember some of the things I've been loving! What products have you been loving recently? Do you have any recommendations? Let me know in the comments below!
