Is it too late now to say 'Warning: Picture heavy post'?
So, not too long ago, Natalie (from the brilliant blog Natalie's Beauty Base) and I did a thing. We pooled what limited money we had together and decided to do a impressively sizeable Colourpop haul. Every blogger out there must know of Colourpop and their products by now, which are incredibly high quality with a seriously budget friendly price tag. For a while their products were only available in the US, and eventually people found a loophole to get their products sent over to the UK. Now I've never done this myself so please correct me if I'm wrong - it involved delivering the items to some mail forwarding address in America, then said company will resend the parcel on to you for a small charge. Its a genius idea, and certainly something I would never have thought of myself!
Thankfully though, Colourpop's products increased in popularity, and before long international shipping was finally introduced. Don't go crazy just yet though guys - shipping to the UK costs a slightly eye-watering £25 - and that's not including import taxes (I found that out the hard way). So if you're looking at treating yourself to a little splurge, why not buddy up with a friend too? It makes a difference, trust me.
It may look like I went slightly crazy (there's no denying that Colourpop's products are gorgeous - hence the long list of photos), but when you take into account that the average price of a lipstick is $6, you can see why...right? I was perfectly justified! Being a lipstick junkie, the 'Ultra Matte Lipsticks' immediately caught my eye, as well as the 'Lippie Stix', which have become increasingly popular in the blogging world.
It was incredibly hard knowing where to start, and believe me there was a lot of debating beforehand. I'd heard good things about the Ultra Matte Lipsticks, and as I've never tried liquid lipsticks before, I was eager to give them a go. The first item in my basket was the 'Donut' Ultra Matte Lipstick, a beautiful bold peach colour. Donut immediately caught my eye with its vibrant, coral colour and warm undertones, and it's a perfect light but bright shade which would be perfect for everyday wear in summer. The second addition to my basket comes in the form of the 'Beeper' Ultra Matte Lipstick, a stunning taupe shade. Honestly, this one has me written all over it as I'm always obsessed with taupe lipsticks at the moment, and this one is one of the most beautiful shades I've ever seen. I don't think there are enough heart-eyed emojis in the world to show my love for this shade.
Next up, meet the stunning 'Mars' Ultra Matte Lipstick. This shade definitely deserves some attention with its bright and bold fuchsia tones - just look how much it stands out on my pale skin! Definitely one to wear when you want to add a pop of colour to any makeup look, or to rock on a night out with the girls. The 'Stingraye' Ultra Matte Lipstick was created as part of a collection from YouTube beauty guru ItsMyRayeRaye, and boy oh boy is it gorgeous. A cool-toned mauve brown (are you sensing a theme here yet?), this beauty was only limited edition, and sadly is no longer available to purchase. Similar to that is the 'Highball' Ultra Matte Lipstick, which I didn't realise until now is no longer available. A vivid hot red-pink shade, Highball definitely catches the eye with how bold it is. Definitely an Elle Woods approved shade, don't you think?
As a delicate, soft mauve pink, the 'Bianca' Ultra Matte Lipstick is my ideal shade for everyday wear. It reminds me of the infamous 'Velvet Teddy' matte lipstick by MAC, but at a fraction of the price. To me it looks stunning on fair skin, and its a simple but effective lipstick ideal for day to day use - I'll definitely be rocking this around the office. Similar to Bianca is the slightly pinker 'Clueless' Ultra Matte Lipstick, a duskier mauve colour. I may have gone slightly overboard with the mauve shades, but can you blame me when looking at those swatches? I'm a MAC lover through and through, but I have to admit Colourpop are definitely starting to challenge them as my favourites - and my bank account is slightly happier too!
Those who read here on a regular basis will know of my love for a good deep and dark lip, and Colourpop have so many to choose from. In the end, the 'Bad Habit' Ultra Matte Lipstick won out, and for good reason. Would you just look at how gorgeous it is?! Described as a 'dusty mauve pink', Bad Habit is the ideal colour to be rocking as we head into cooler seasons. More of a pinky-plum colour, it won me over completely when I saw it on the website. Whilst it looks more of a red colour in the swatches, it is honestly the perfect colour for the winter seasons.
The 'Vice' Ultra Matte Lipstick however couldn't be more different. A very pale nude colour, I can imagine it looking amazing on pretty much any shade of skin, but best on pale skin. When I saw it on a model on the website, the first description that popped into my head was 'frosty', and I think that perfectly captures it. Last of the liquid lipsticks is the slightly different 'Spritz' Ultra Satin Lipstick. Different to the Ultra Matte range, Spritz is instead part of the Ultra Satin range - which I have yet to explore fully. As a bubblegum pink shade with warm undertones, Spritz has more of a sheer finish to it and looks glossier on the lips.
It wouldn't be much of a haul without Colourpop's own Lippie Stix range - a selection of lipsticks I've been dying to try ever since I saw a friends haul on them. Slightly cheaper than the liquid lipsticks, the Lippie Stix are only $5 - which works out to a crazy £3.84 each. The quality is astounding too, and I can't quite believe how cheap they are! The 'Cami' Matte X Lippie Stix was my first choice, and with good reason - it's a beautiful deep mauve (yeah, predictable I know) colour, and I've got so many compliments at work already whenever I've been rocking it. Slightly similar to Cami is the 'Lumiere' Matte Lippie Stix, although it is a slightly lighter and softer mauve-pink shade. Created by the beauty vlogger Kathleen Lights, Lumiere is designed for 'bold and shy' people alike, and I have to admit it does look good!
Similar to a colour that rapidly increased in popularity, the 'Pillow Talk' Matte Lippie Stix is a gorgeous griege colour that reminds me of Kylie Jenner. It has a warm finish, and seriously plays into my dark lip obsession I've been having lately. The 'Grunge' Matte Lippie Stix has a kind of 90s vibe to it, and is described as a cool-toned plum-brown. It's a beautiful shade, and I think it contrasts well against my fair skin.
My lipstick obsession fully catered to, I decided to grab a couple of eyeshadows while I was at it. Typically I'll rock a golden smoky eye daily, and I'm very picky when it comes to brand and style as I can get slightly frustrated if the eyeshadows aren't pigmented enough. With that in mind, I figured two was enough for me to get a feel of what they're like, with thought to treating myself to more in the future. First on my list was the 'Weenie' Super Shock Eyeshadow because...well, what girl can resist a rose gold eyeshadow?! I'm shocked at how pigmented it is aswell, as I was not expecting it to be as good as it is - especially because it was only $5 too! Described as having a pearled finish, Weenie is perfect for an everyday but bold look. Especially if you combine it with my second pick, the 'Wattles' Super Shock Eyeshadow. A dusty beige pink, Wattles may not be as bold but trust me, it's no less gorgeous. It could even be used as a good highlighter!
Have you ever shopped with Colourpop before? What's your favourite product? Any recommendations for my next haul? I'll definitely be placing another order in the future that's for sure! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
