I love being a blonde. I've gone through many hair colours over the years - jet black, chestnut brown, deep plum, bright red, peroxide blonde and even pinks and purples! And whilst I've always loved each and every shade my hair has gone through, there's not one I love more than a gorgeous golden blonde.

Being blonde however brings with it some hefty maintenance. After all, nobody wants yellow, brassy tones to their hair do they? It's a common problem for blondes, but thankfully it only takes a simple solution. Meet the purple brightening shampoos - an incredible solution for any light haired individual suffering from brassy tones. What was once a relatively small market has now boomed, and it seems that every haircare brand under the sun has their own version on sale. My favourite though? Easily Lush's own 'Daddy-O'.

Daddy-O works to add volume and shine to your hair. It's the lemon and organic lime juice which allow the cuticles to lie flat and reflect more light, helping the hair to shine. We've created an infusion from toothed wrack seaweed and organic lemons that cleanses and softens. Extra virgin coconut oil hydrates the hair, whilst fine sea salt gets to work by softening and giving body to your hair. What makes this extra special is that it can revive your silver and blonde tones.

At £11.25 for a 250g bottle, Daddy-O is slightly more expensive than some other toning shampoos available, but believe me it is worth the investment. I've had the 250g bottle for a while now, and to say I use this a couple of times a week at most, I've still got over 3/4 left. Even with my long hair, I only really need a couple of squeezes or so for it to lather up and give complete coverage. It does an impressive job of revitalising hair, and once dried you can really see the difference in that the brassy tones are dulled down. As well as changing the tones in the hair, the shampoo also does a good job of giving dull hair a much needed boost, thanks to the sea salt it contains. And as an added bonus, the extra virgin coconut oil helps to hydrate dry hair, leaving it feeling soft and silky smooth.

Another thing I love about any Lush products is that they always smell amazing. Thankfully Daddy-O is no different and it smells absolutely gorgeous - it actually smells like Parma Violets! Containing violet leaf and organic lime juice, the aroma this shampoo gives off is almost intoxicating. It's a nice, sweet scent without being too overpowering and strong. It leaves a soft trace of the shampoos scent on the hair too, which lasts long after washing.

All in all, whilst the price may seem a little steep, I have to say it's worth it. I'd been looking for a good shampoo for blondes for a while, and some of the ones I'd tried before just weren't up to scratch for me. Thankfully Lush's own version sets itself apart from the competition, and in all, it is the perfect companion for any other blondes out there.
