Disclaimer - this post goes out to all my fellow candle lovers out there!
If there's one thing everyone that knows me knows, it's that I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to candles. You name it - Yankee Candles, Flamingo Candles (speaking of, why not check out my monthly posts about the Melt Crowd here), I pretty much own a couple from every brand. What can I say? I'm a self obsessed candle hoarder as well as a shopaholic!
Jo Malone is a brand known for their luxury beauty products, and the name practically screams elegance. A British brand, Jo Malone have unique fragrances to hold to their name, and each one can be combined with another to create a variety of unique scents tailored to you. And if perfumes aren't your thing, or if you're more into your homeware, they also do a variety of home and bath products - ranging from shampoos and body oils, to reed diffusers and candles. My favourite so far has to be the 'Sweet Almond and Macaroon*' candle though - its perfect for use now it's getting colder!
Now I could use this opportunity to go into the bug debate of Macaron vs Macaroon. Thankfully I won't, and as the two are both incredibly sweet treats, either one would suit me perfectly. I do have a sweet tooth and a weakness when it comes to sweet, sugary goods! As an added bonus, the presentation of the candle is, in one word, stunning - it's elegant, luxurious but also simple and effective. Decorated with the gorgeous Jo Malone design, the candle would look perfect in any home or setting, and I personally love having it on my vanity table - it fits in perfectly with all my little beauty bits and bobs.
When it comes to the scent, Jo Malone have really hit the nail on the head with the detailed description on their website, and it's definitely unlike anything I've smelt before. 'Delectable macaroon. A comforting confection of sweet almond and creamy coconut. Rich with cherries. Softened by vanilla. Warm and cocooning.' I don't know about you, but I'm a huge lover of all things sweet and sugary, and that is definitely what we have on our hands in the candle. It's lovely and sweet, whilst also being warm and comforting - something we all need now we're into these darker and colder months.
Personally, I love burning this for a while after a long day at work - I have a slight routine at the minute when I come home thanks to the stress of the day (working in retail around Christmas is manic if you didn't know). Currently it stands at get home, shower, fall into bed and have a little pamper. And this little gem is one of those things that helps me relax. It reminds me of when Liam and I went to Paris a couple of years ago, and we stopped in this cute little patisserie on our walk round the city. It smelt beautiful and sweet, and like everything you'd expect a Parisian cafe to smell like. It reminds me of an incredibly less stressful time, and after a long day it's exactly what I need.
As well as being warm and cozy, the candle is incredibly long lasting and the scent fills the room with a nice, nutty aroma. The almond is a nice pairing with the macaroon, and it's still going now months after I first used it. It's strong enough to fill the room with a nice, light scent, but not too overpowering or strong that it gives you a headache - something I've struggled with in the past.
Overall, the candle is certainly steep in price at £42 for 200g, but the quality of it is fantastic. It's so rich and luxurious that it fills the room, and I think I've fallen a little in love with it. If you're looking for something for that special someone, and are willing to splash out and spoil them, then I'd definitely recommend this candle. Jo Malone are known for their luxury products, and you're pretty much guaranteed to find something you'll love.
