If there's one thing that majorly grinds my gears on a daily basis, it's my skin. Its dry and difficult and honestly a pain in the butt to maintain, and that's just on a good day. Most of the time its red and blotchy thanks to my rosacea, and sometimes it will even be that bad that no amount of colour correcting concealer can do any good. So finally, instead of turning to concealers, I've decided to try and tackle the problem head on and at its roots; with my skincare routine.
My current routine consists of the 'Cup O' Coffee' face scrub from Lush, followed by a Clinique overnight cream or a cleanser and moisturiser. It's typically a routine that works perfectly, although leaves a little shine to the skin, and normally I wouldn't change up something if it was working so well for me. The redness really started to bug me though, so when I saw this in my local Boots store I figured I'd give it a go. Afterall, what did I have to lose?
Redness can be a problem for many people out there, and its great to know I'm not alone - there's countless causes, and some of them can be a pain to tackle head on. For some people redness can be caused by something as simple as eating spicy foods, so when a product comes along claiming to help, I will admit, at first I was a bit skeptical - I always am when it comes to products claiming to reduce redness, and I've had quite a few duds in the past that raised my expectations slightly.
Containing what they call 'probiotic technology', the 'Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream' from Clinique not only helps soothe red skin but helps strengthen the skins barrier too. With tea leaf extract, algae extract, linoleic acid and more, the cream promises to help combat redness whilst also soothing and comforting the skin. So after using it twice a day for a while now, I have to say, I'm pretty shocked at how...normal my skin looks. It looks healthier, more nourished and noticeable less red. The cream itself is incredibly hydrating, and once applied to the skin is instantly cooling and soothing too.
It's also oil free, making it super soft on the skin and not at all greasy like some face creams. Once its had time to settle it drys down matte and it doesn't take long to get to that point either, I typically slap some on before doing my hair and by the time I'm done in the morning I'm good to go. There's no scent to the cream either, meaning that there isn't some unwanted aroma lingering around afterwards.
Overall, if you're struggling with redness on a daily basis and are looking for a skincare solution, I'd highly recommend this cream. It works best if used twice daily every day, and if you're using makeup afterwards I'd leave adequate time between applications to ensure there's no smudging. At £40 for 50ml it's definitely from the expensive end of the premium scale, but if redness gets you down as much as it does me then I'd consider it a worthwhile investment.
