Wow, can you believe it? 2017 is officially over!
In some ways I'm sad to see it go, but then again it's like starting over with a fresh page in a new book. 2018 is a clean slate, and I can't wait to see what it brings - especially when it comes to blogging! I've got a few exciting things planned for the ol' blog in 2018, so keep your eyes peeled over the next few months!
To kick 2017 off right, I figured a look back at some of my favourites of 2017 were in order - and what better way to start off than to pick my top 3 fragrances? Personally, I have to admit I have a bit of a weakness when it comes to fragrances and perfumes - I have an entire shelf full in the bedroom, and even now I feel like that's not enough. I love having a few to choose from and tailoring a fragrance for a special event, or sticking one fragrance out for a while depending on my mood. Plus don't you think it also really helps bring an outfit or a look together?
My first pick for favourite of 2017 undoubtedly has to be the Yves Saint Laurent Manifesto Eau De Parfum. It's a beautiful and feminine scent, with a very floral based aroma and a hint of sweetness. It's not too strong or overpowering either - I actually find this to be the perfect perfume to wear to work as it's not one of those scents that's too heavy and will give you a headache after long. With its vanilla and tonka bean base notes the perfume is the ideal scent for everyday wear, and the fragrance lingers for hours after it's been sprayed. You can check out my previous full review of Manifesto here.
Next up has to be the stunning Guerlain Mon Guerlain Eau De Parfum*, newly released for 2017. Mon Guerlain is a strong, powerful and very feminine fragrance, with notes of lavender, sandalwood, jasmine and vanilla. It's a beautiful and intoxicating scent, and it's easy to see why the perfume gained some serious traction upon its release last year. Personally this is currently my number one go-to fragrance for special occasions, and I love that its tied to so many of my good moments of 2017. Definitely a contender for my perfume of the year!
Last but certainly by no means least is a late favourite of mine, the Dior Poison Girl Eau De Parfum. With delicate notes of orange and tonka bean, the name might be slightly off putting and seem almost child-like - but what the name lacks in creativity, it more than makes up for in power. It's quite a strong fragrance, but certainly one that will last for hours after application and can build into somewhat of an addiction - this is another scent that to me that is perfect for everyday use, and could easily be worn around the office.
Altogether 2017 has been a pretty strong year for me perfume-wise! It was really difficult to narrow down my choices this year - what with YSL Black Opium being a strong contender, as well as Jo Malone's Peony and Blush Suede, and you can see the struggle I had! What would be your top fragrance picks of 2017? Let me know in the comments below!
